I am going camping with my boyfriend, and I want to make some food that will knock his socks off. Any ideas?

We don't eat red meat...

Get some boneless chicken and slice it into pieces about two inches wide. Pound it thin and marinate it in soy sauce, ginger and molasses. You can freeze it with the marinade in a ziplock bag to keep it cold for travel. When it is defrosted, you can either grill it or pan fry or stir fry it. I serve it with rice or couscous and a veggie.
OR: dip small pieces of chicken in a mixture of egg and milk. The dredge each piece in a mixture made of cornmeal, salt, flour and chili powder. Fry the pieces in olive oil and serve with corn bread and salad. My kids love these home made "chicken fingers".
OR: skewer shrimp, pineapple and red peppers on wooden skewers and grill. Brush the shrimp with olive oil in which garlic has been mashed. Serve over rice or couscous.

i simply recommend staying away from the conventional and stereotypical hot dogs and burgers. I personally do not go camping, but i have gone several times with my friend and his family, and they go all out with the food. I’m talking about steak, ribs, pork, sausages, rice, beans, soup, etc. Obviously, this isn’t all in one seating, but throughout the whole trip. and all cooked over the camp fire. they (mainly the mom who was the primary cook) would plan more or les what they would want to eat and when, and prepared the food at home before the trip. She would make the marinade for the meat and store the meat in the marinade in a zip lock bag, and take it in the cooler. by giving it more than enough time to soak in the juicy goodness.

sorry i dintt have any specific recipes or choices, butI’m'm just telling you to think big. nearly any sort of food can be done greatly on the camp fire. cook what he would really love, like his favorite dish and such. be creative, and steer clear of the precooked, preprepared, just open and heat foods. also remember the camp fire is not just an open flame, its a heat source. using a nice pot and boiling water, opens up more options to cook.

- Wash a whole apple and put a 8" x 3/8" stick through (stop at the end of the apple

In a pot with a tablespoon of milk, melt a bar of carmel.

When melted and sticky, dip or pour the carmel over the apple.

Options: Cover with crushed peanuts, etc.
